Introduction

The Cappella di Santa Maria degli Angiolini is an early music ensemble based in Florence, Italy. Its mission is the preservation and promotion of the musical repertoire that dates back to the XVI and XVII centuries, large parts of which is still unedited and unpublished and rarely, if ever, performed in regular concert festivals or recorded. As it is of vital importance to “restore” and “protect” works of art (such as paintings, sculptures, historical buildings and books) we believe that it is just as necessary to safeguard, promote, and make available to the wider public a musical repertoire that otherwise would be neglected and eventually lost. The two main sponsors of the Cappella di Santa Maria degli Angiolini are IMAF (International Music and Art Foundation) and SACI (Studio Art Centers International). The artistic and musical direction of the project is in charge of Maestro Gian Luca Lastraioli. Concerts are held in the Chiesa di Santa Maria degli Angiolini and in other prestigious historical venues of Florence. Entrance to concerts is free of charge.
